First month with HCL software

By Ales Lichtenberg | 8/5/19 3:07 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

We have completed the first month when HCL fully took over from IBM Collaboration software (Domino, Notes, Sametime, Connections …..). Information comes from all sides, we gain access to individual systems. Everything is not going smoothly, but from my own experience I know that the people of each teams are trying to help. I wish everything was successful and thanks to all HCL people and customers for patience.

Community written guides on OpenNTF wiki

By Roberto Boccadoro | 7/10/19 4:42 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

In the collaboration community, a.k.a yellowverse, the need for step-by-step product guides, installation, tuning, etc… has always been present, not because the official documentation is bad, but because if you follow it, you have to jump from a place to another in order to finish the installation of a product. See for example the installation of Connections where the Knowledge Base tells you “install DB2” and points you to the DB2 KB, then “install WAS” and points you to the WAS KB, and so on.

HCL is doing so many things right, but...

By Ben Langhinrichs | 7/3/19 12:58 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

Overall, HCL has been doing a terrific job. They have revitalized Notes/Domino and fixed some longstanding bugs. They have worked with business partners better than IBM has in a long time. They have injected hope and enthusiasm, and have mostly met all the deadlines they've set for themselves. They have shown vision and commitment to future versions, and I see customers responding.

Thank you IBM. So Long, and thanks for all the fish

I will never forget the most memorable moments that occurred at the conference formerly known as Lotusphere. 2 of them, especially, had a huge impact on my life and my career. On the morning of the 30th of January, 2013, I was approached by Jason Hatch, the then CTP leader for Asia Pacific (AP), with a proposition.

3 weeks, 3 countries, 3 roles

By Martin Pradny | 5/30/19 4:54 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

I should be probably doing some work now, but the last three weeks were quite busy and a short blog post may help me to process all the information I gathered (or I'm just too tired to get any real work done as it looked like that half of Poland is going home for an extended weekend due to public holiday in Germany and I got home at 2AM instead of 11PM).

Finally we’ll talk about some of the “must dos” in the day, week and month of a Domino admin.

Engage 2019 Summary

By Paul Withers | 5/19/19 6:31 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

Historically Engage has been shortly after a major conference in US, so it’s been an opportunity to catch up on sessions missed there. This year it followed the Factory Tour by a few months. Unfortunately for me, most of the key products sessions conflicted with sessions I was delivering or preparation.

Wow, these were three great days ! This has been my 2nd Engage Conference that i attended, the first one as a speaker. Theo Heselmans really outdid himself again this year by finding a cool venue (Autoworld Brussels) and topping it off with perfect logistics like always.

Stuck in Brussels

I spent this week at the Engage conference, which this year took place in Belgium. I gave a presentation yesterday about a solution that my colleagues at iSi have made. People went “wow!” when they saw it. Which was nice, and I sent them a message telling them that they had impressed people.

My two cents about HCL

By Daniel Nashed | 3/31/19 9:08 AM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

It has been a surprise for us that HCL is taking over Notes/Domino and most other collaboration products completely from IBM. The deal is not yet effective (hopefully beginning of June) and it should be "business as usual" until then. But we already see what we can expect from HCL taking over the complete portfolio including product strategy, sales and customer relationship.

Gelsenkirchen

By John D. Curtis | 3/30/19 7:42 PM | - | Added by Oliver Busse

Every trip I take there are moments of apprehension. I won’t call them fear; it’s not that strong a sentiment. I just say to myself “Well, I wonder how this will turn out.” And this trip had a few of them, the first of which happening at the Düsseldorf train station trying to get a ticket to my final destination in Gelsenkirchen.
