Call to Action: Designer Lite Plugin

By Paul Withers | 6/28/17 12:49 PM | App Dev - XPages | Added by Oliver Busse

At Engage I hosted a round table discussion titled “Domino Next Generation IDE“. The discussion was around giving / promoting CRUD API access to databases, views and forms, as well as managing scheduled processes (which in the NSF world is handled as agents). The discussion was useful and covered a number of aspects. Since then I’ve digested and distilled the feedback I received, done some further investigation, and put together a spec.

OpenSky Computing

By Christian Guedemann | 6/26/17 11:04 AM | App Dev - Cloud | Added by Oliver Busse

In today’s world, everybody is talking about the Cloud. If people talk about Cloud, they are talking in the most case about the location where data are processed and stored. In the mean time, while the “common” people are adopting the concept of Cloud Computing, Fog Computing or Edge Computing is the new upcoming term.

CRUD, NoSQL, Domino and Workflow

By Paul Withers | 6/23/17 1:55 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

For many months now – dating back to the middle of last year when Domino app dev was in limbo – I’ve been wrestling with what seems to me to be an elephant in the room with regard to Domino, NoSQL and REST. At the time many were looking at alternatives to part or all of the Domino stack.

Traveler with new Security Mode for Mail-File Access

By Daniel Nashed | 6/22/17 7:01 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

Traveler comes with a couple of minor fixes and a big change in the way Traveler Server access mail-databases. In IBM introduced a new check if the Traveler server is listed in Trusted Servers (Server Security Tab) to show a warning if not. Now we know what IBM was preparing for.

Getting email addresses from the Notes address book

By David Navarre | 6/22/17 2:07 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by John Oldenburger

As we work to get our Notes applications functioning smoothly with our Outlook mail, I’m finding ways to keep the close binding between Notes applications and the user’s mail. It’s so much easier to click a button to generate an email associated to a particular Notes document than to copy-paste a document link.

Swagger for Domino Developers - Part Four: Generating Domino Design Elements

By Paul Withers | 6/20/17 2:39 AM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

This final part has taken a while, because of problems that will become apparent during the blog post! But I’ve finally overcome them, in a (hopefully) future-proofed manner, which I’ll also go into. Another one of Stephan Wissel’s projects on GitHub is the Swagger Domino Code Generator.

DNUG#44 - The German IBM Collaboration User Group Event (IBM Collaboration Solutions User Community)

By IBM developerWorks | 6/12/17 5:23 PM | Business - Social Business | Added by Oliver Busse

I was thrilled to take part in this year's DNUG event, their 44th one! This time, in the great city of Berlin (a place I'd never been and really enjoyed exploring). DNUG has been around since the early days of Lotus and has a strong following.

Quick-n-Dirty: Hotfix for DateTimeHelper

By Sven Hasselbach | 6/12/17 1:02 PM | App Dev - XPages | Added by John Oldenburger

This weekend I stumbled over a bug of the DateTimeHelper: If the value of the field is empty, no actions and/or action listeners connected with a managed bean will be executed anymore. Here is an example of a small XPage to illustrate the problem.

Orient Me, Elasticsearch and Disk space

By Christoph Stoettner | 6/1/17 5:35 PM | Infrastructure - Connections | Added by Oliver Busse

With IBM Connections 6 you can deploy the additional component Orient Me, which provides the first microservices which will build the new IBM Connections pink. Orient Me is installed on top of IBM Spectrum Conductor for Containers (CFC) a new product to help with clustering and orchestrating of the Docker containers.

Notes Client/Windows Crash with Windows 10 Creators update

By Daniel Nashed | 6/1/17 4:28 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Just got that question today at DNUG. There is an issue with the Notes Client with the current Windows 10 Update - aka Creators Update (Build 1703). According to the responsible person who is at DNUG today, this happens because of changed Windows graphics APIs. IBM is working on a fix which will be available in FP9.

NotesIn9 206: Rest Servlets

By David Leedy | 5/31/17 10:46 PM | App Dev - Web | Added by Kenio Carvalho

In this episode, OpenNTF Board Member and long time IBM Champion, Paul Withers returns with a great show on how to get starting building REST Servlets inside an EXTERNAL Library. This is a longer show as getting started with Libraries is a little involved but believe me it’s so worth it.

GitLab now available in Bluemix

By Niklas Heidloff | 5/31/17 9:08 AM | App Dev - Bluemix | Added by Kenio Carvalho

I’m still catching up on all the new functionality that has been added to IBM Bluemix over the last year. One new capability is to use GitLab for source control and lightweight project management.
